Tutorials

I know, I know I haven't blogged in forever.  It's been crazy around here but I'm back.  Some exciting new I made the Design Team for Scrapping Nook.  Everyone there is super nice and very supportive.  There is a store, message board, blog and even FB.  They have a little of it all.

The first kit that I received is Bo Bunny - Snow Day.  For our March Crop it's all about tutorials.  I'm going to post mine here and on the Message Board.  Come on over and check out all of the super fun tutorials.

Tutorial #8:  Stamp as part of your background
I got out a snowflake stamp, ink and cardstock. Stamped away.

I used mine on a card but this will work great on a layout too.

Tutorial #9:  Sunburst
First I created my card base 4"x6".
Then I cut a sheet of cardstock (any color) 4-3/4"x5-3/4".
Then drew a circle for my focus point. This can be anywhere on the card that you want.

Then I cut wedge shapes of various paper and adhering them to my cardstock with the point of the wedge on the center of the circle.

You'll go all the way around. Then flip it over and cut off the access paper.

I used a Bo Bunny - Snow Day Noteworthy as my focus point which also covers the center point of the sunburst.

Tutorial #15: Pocket
First I created a 4"x6" card.
Then cut a pattern paper at 3-3/4"x5-3/4"

Cut a second pattern paper 4"x4-1/2" and decorate as you wish. Adhear with foam tape and slip your surprise inside the pocket.

Thanks for stopping by my blog and hope to see you again real soon.

A List Update

It's been a while since I posted an update about my 101 list.  Here are the things I've accomplished and I even added a few new things to my list.

3. Go to a play/musical.
In order of the picture my Aunt, Meme (Grandmother), Myself and My Sister went and saw The Nutcracker.

34. Visit Catalina Island.
We took a trip with my side of the family, adults only and an overnighter.

36. Fly a kite.
We did this awhile ago but it doesn't look like I ever posted it.  I even created a layout with some of the pictures.

74. Travel locally to a town I've never been.
The kiddos and I drove to Santa Monica and had lunch at a fish market.  Park meters are not something I deal with very often which made for an interesting 30 minutes of my kids in the car and me outside of the car standing and staring at that little machine.

26. Buy a new camera.
My DH bought me a camera for Christmas.  It's something that I've been needing/wanting for a while now.

2. Take public transportation.
Each year we plan a little trip with my Dad, My Sisters Family and My Family.   This year we went down to San Diego and while we were there we took the train to lunch and then back to the hotel.  It was a fun experience.

38. Buy something off etsy that I think is cute.
I bought a few really cool tags, burlap stars and canvas butterflies from Curtsey Boutique. Here is a card I made with one of the butterflies.  I inked it with a pink ink pad to match the colors on the card.

The Scrapping Nook DT Call

I've been apart of and still am on design teams for scrapbooking and card making.  I greatly enjoy creating design team challenges, projects and the over all chit chat.  We'll I went on-line yesterday in search of that is new out there in the scrapbooking land.  A lot of my go to places for scrappy conversation have been closing up and I wanted to see what else is out there.  I came across The Scrapping Nook.  Now I know my limits and I don't try out for every DT call I come across.  I have to say I really like the over all look of their site. They have a little but of everything; a message board, blog, store and more...  Looking forward to getting to know all the other members better and getting my creativity on.

January Challenge

A New Year has begun and what a wonderful way to start out is with a new challenge.  For this new year I thought it would be fitting to have a challenge of re-purposing/upcycling an item of items on your project.  Turning something old into something new.  Here are two cards I created.

The ribbon on the first card came off of a new shirt.  I don't ever hang my shirts by those strings and they are in the way when I wear the shirt so I just cut them off and save them.  It was the perfect color for this card.

I received these amazing Prima flowers from Stacy Harper-Watson.  I used the packaging these two flowers came in for this card.
